Ranganathittu
At a time when certain species of birds are becoming as rare as the flying objects from the space, Ranganathittu dazzles your senses with a breathtaking array of these air borne creatures. From the tiny birds that canter along the blue skies like tracer bullets, you will be treated to an assortment of large, well built birds which fill the skies of this area in the peak seasons.
Apart from being an ideal place for birdwatchers, Ranganathittu unknowingly evokes a sense of bohemianism in the heart of every nature lover.
When you gaze the birds floating in the sky in Ranganathittu, the elated feeling you experience must be credited to world famous ornithologist Dr. Salim Ali. It was he who convinced the Maharaja of Mysore in 1940 to declare Ranganathittu as a protected area cum bird sanctuary.
Orientation
Ranganathittu is situated on the Bangalore-Mysore highway. When you leave Bangalore, you will reach Ranganathittu 18 km before Mysore, where you will have to take a right turn near Srirangapattana. But the people who constructed the roads might have believed that the visitors can fly to Ranganathittu like the birds, as the roads are full of huge holes.
Weather
The weather under the shades of green trees is always pleasant, and Ranganathittu is no exception to this.
